I’m Clare, and I started Bound Ahead Dog Training to help owners and their pets better understand each other and build a more harmonious partnership.
I’m passionate understanding dog behaviour, and how breed-specific training can help develop the bond of dogs and their owners.
I grew up on our family farm in Norfolk. Seeing the dogs work and the enjoyment that connection brought to both dogs and human handlers, first inspired my love of dog training. My parents realised it was a pretty serious obsession when aged 6 I was building agility courses out of wooden fence posts and logs in the back garden, and spending hours running around it with our pet collie Jess!
I now live on the north west coast of Wales with my husband, cat Polly, and dogs Cadi (cocker spaniel) and Jac (Labrador). We love long hikes, and lots of dog sports! We train towards scent work, mantrailing, hoopers – and our first love, gundog training. Cadi and I are part of two beating teams on shoots in the winter season, and Jac is working towards picking up and working tests.
With over 5 years of dog training experience, I was mentored by Aleks from Synchro Dog Training before moving to north Wales where I set up my own venture to help more owners and their dogs.
Aleks and I co-founded Scurry Dog. Scurry Dog takes all the fun of gundog training, and puts this into 5 Games which all pet dogs can excel at! Scurry Dog is growing a network of people and dogs worldwide who love gundog games and training. We are also training a network of other dog trainers in how to teach our 5 Games, through our Instructors Course.
